Packaging made from paper and cardboard

Paper packaging are produced in the form of sheets or ribbons.

They are made from plant fiber, sometimes  other substances are added  like dyes and other chemicals. They are for example boxes made from corrugated board, handbags, wrapping foil, paper bags, cardboard boxes and trays.

  ADVANTAGES

  • Light thickness, light weight
  • biodegradable and can be recycled
  • cheap
  • easily available
  • easy to join with other substances
  DISADVANTAGES
  • poor mechanical strengt
  • Permeable to tastes and smells
  • Combustible material
  • Poor chemical resistance
  • Great consumption of wood
  • Subjected to ageing
  • Poor exquisite design

Remember packaging produced from waste paper cannot be used in food packaging production.

Required level of packaging made from paper cardboard  recycling in Poland is 39%

Received level of recycling in Poland is 44.4 %.

680.000 tons of paper and cardboard packaging wastes is produced in Poland every year.

The quality of paper and cardboard packaging comprises :

Chemical composition :

  • Basic components : ( cloth substance, high quality paper, waste paper);
  • Secondary components ( filling material, glues, dyes etc)
  • Production process : preparing paper mass, grinding, adding aid substances, cleaning and sorting, forming paper ribbons ( draining and drying, strengthening, smoothing and improving aeolotropy) finishing ( removing water remains, smoothing, cooling and forming ribbons, additional finishing activities, cutting).
